Backup generators hum quietly behind hospitals, data centers, and factories across the U.S., waiting for a blackout that may never come. AGent Energy just raised $11.0M in seed funding to put that dormant hardware to work.
The startup connects commercial and industrial facilities with existing backup generation-more than 200 GW of installed capacity nationwide-to power markets during grid emergencies. Spero Ventures, MassMutual Ventures, Intrepid Financial Partners, CIV, and Zero Infinity Partners backed the round. As electricity demand surges from AI and electrification, AGent's pitch is simple: let facilities earn revenue from infrastructure they already own, while giving grid operators a new tool for reliability.
